Bobbi Brown eyeglasses and sunglasses
About Bobbi Brown
Bobbi Brown Cosmetics was founded in 1990 with the introduction of 10 super-wearable lipstick shades. Revolutionary foundation sticks soon followed, as well as a complementary skin care line that underscored the brand's purpose: to enhance the natural beauty of the wearer—working with what's already there, without any artificial colors—so a woman always looks and feels like herself.
As one of the most lauded makeup and skin care brands, Bobbi Brown continues to create innovative concepts in the world of beauty. Whether you’re looking for vibrant eye shadow palettes, volumizing mascaras or shimmery lip glosses, you’ll find exactly what you want when you explore the unique collection!
Before you begin your makeup regimen, start with one of Bobbi Brown’s skin care sets, featuring products like hydrating face cream, eye cream and cleansing oil. Then opt for a brightening moisturizer that will tighten and strengthen your skin while locking in moisture so that your face will have a healthy, natural glow.
Brown’s philosophy in her makeup has always been about education and making it really simple, as evidenced by the many instructional books she has published, the how-to videos on her website and the beauty segments she has done on TV. She realizes that opticians are fully experienced in fitting patients with eyewear that not only looks good on them but has the right fit, but she believes her three-step system can still be beneficial for them.
Brown also has a new book coming out titled Everything Eyes, coinciding with the launch of her eyewear along with a new eye makeup line (an “eye-fecta” as her team nicknamed it). The book is her eighth and teaches women how to use makeup to play up their eyes, with a special section that provides tips on selecting the perfect glasses, as well as how to apply makeup with glasses, depending on your style from subtle to strong.
Bobbi Brown Glasses
While the Bobbi Brown eyewear is predominantly designed for women, there are also several unisex styles in both the optical and sunwear collections. Brand recognition is huge in her cosmetics and will undoubtedly translate to her eyewear among women, but surprisingly Brown tells me the market for her beauty products isn’t limited to women—many of them buy their men skincare from her brand. Like 20/20, Brown also shares the belief that certain gender lines blur when it comes to style today, and certainly when it comes to eyewear, as many women have embraced menswear-inspired looks. “As a mother of three boys with two nephews and two foreign exchange students, there was no way I was just doing this for the girls.” While her brand hasn’t been fully marketed toward men on the cosmetics side, she sees a lot of potential from men with the eyewear and is working on ideas to market specifically toward men.
As we near the end of our conversation, Brown interrupts me to try on a frame. “I want to see this on you.” I oblige, secretly excited that my makeup artist idol is “fitting” me with eyewear. The style I try is The Duke, which she named after her hipster son, and which are a little too big on me. She then hands me The Bobbi style. There’s no mirror in front of me when I put it on, but the expression on her face is obvious. “Those are perfect actually,” she says, looking satisfied. And just like that, Bobbi Brown found my perfect pair.
Bobbi Brown's 5 tips for optical beauty
Think guys don’t make passes at girls who wear glasses? Don’t tell that to Bobbi Brown.
The makeup maven and best-selling author recently released her eighth beauty book, “Everything Eyes,” and devotes a section, called “Hey, Four-Eyes,” solely to specs.
To coincide with the book, the often-bespectacled Brown has entered the eyeglasses game herself, a premium Bobbi Brown frames producer and distributor, to create her own line of glasses, sunglasses and Bobbi Brown reading glasses — a first for a makeup artist.
The collection includes optical glasses and sunglasses at Glasses Gallery. "I believe that makeup is a way for women to feel and look like themselves, only prettier and more confident," Brown said in a news release. "As a makeup artist, I have looked at women's faces for over 20 years and believe that my beauty expertise will translate naturally into eyewear, identifying the best silhouettes and colors for a woman's face shape, skin tone, and lifestyle. This is a new, innovative approach to interpreting eyewear."
Famous for her own signature black glasses, in “Everything Eyes,” Brown, who used “real” women to model the frames in the campaign, shows how to choose the right frames based on face shape, skin tone and personal style. “It pretty much takes the guesswork out of finding your perfect pair of frames,”
Bobbi Brown's Tips for Looking Really, Really Good in Sunglasses
Everyone looks better in sunglasses. No really, it's science. Recent studies suggest that the right shades can make your face look more symmetrical, lend an air of mystery, and make you look more glamorous. Like we needed science to tell us that! The shape and fit of the frames are the two most important factors when you're picking out sunglasses. But there are other factors to consider. I asked makeup artist (and glasses expert) Bobbi Brown for her best sunglasses tips.
"Choosing a color for sunglasses is a little like playing with makeup. I recommend having one pair of black or tortoiseshell Bobbi Brown sunglasses. These typically look good on everyone. Pair them with a bold lip and some blush and you have your look done for the day," says Brown. To put it in beauty terms, black or tortoiseshell sunglasses are the basic black liner of the sunglasses world.
"I also like a bold sunglasses color paired with a nude lip or gloss so the color isn't overpowering," adds Brown. If you're feeling adventurous, look for sunglasses in the shame shade as your go-to most flattering eye makeup. If you're more of a minimalist—but still looking for something unconventional—think nude. "Nude is modern yet classic and looks good on almost every skin tone," says Brown. This even works if you find a pair of black frames that are flesh-tone on the inside. "They'll reflect back and brighten your skin,"
